

On March 6, the Chinese Embassy in Singapore hosted a reception for International Women’s Day and the opening ceremony of the “Shanghai-Style Cheongsam in Singapore” special exhibition. Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Cao Zhongming, and his wife Yang Qing, female representatives from Singapore’s political and business circles, and envoys from various countries in Singapore were among the more than one hundred guests in attendance. Dr. Zhao Xiuling, Head of the Singapore Global Office of the China-Portugal Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Cultural Heritage Conservation Science was invited to the event.
The event used the Shanghai-style cheongsam as a cultural link to highlight the role of women in the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. During the event, Dr. Zhao had a warm exchange with Ambassador Cao, briefly introducing the core research directions and recent achievements of the joint laboratory. She expressed the hope that in the future, the joint laboratory could be used to strengthen cutting-edge exploration in digital cultural heritage protection and the revitalization of intangible cultural heritage, deepen the construction of a mechanism for cultural exchange along the Belt and Road, provide technical support for the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and continue to empower the high-quality development of people-to-people bonds along the Belt and Road.
