



On the morning of June 5, Professor Han Haoying, Executive Deputy Director of the Institute of Urban and Sustainable Development at City University of Macao and head of the Joint Laboratory (Macao), visited the Joint Laboratory for work exchanges. He was received by Professor Wu Yao, Deputy Director of the Joint Laboratory.
Accompanied by Wu Yao, Professor Han toured the laboratory’s achievement exhibition area and key experimental zones. During the visit, Wu Yao provided a detailed overview of the laboratory’s recent research achievements in cultural heritage conservation, the coordination of major ongoing projects, and its medium- and long-term development plans. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation under the joint laboratory framework. Drawing on his collaborative experience, Professor Han shared his views on the laboratory’s current operations and the future pathways for trilateral cooperation.
Following the tour, the two sides held a symposium to discuss the trilateral coordination mechanism, organizational structure, and division of responsibilities. Discussions focused on the proper establishment of the Joint Laboratory's Management, Advisory, Academic, and Executive Committees. Consensus was reached on developing a unified visual identity and standardized management mechanisms. Next, the two sides will strengthen trilateral collaboration, enhance the laboratory's branding and external promotion, and co-organize high-level international conferences and exhibitions to support interdisciplinary development and innovation in cultural heritage conservation.
The China-Portugal Joint Laboratory of Cultural Heritage Conservation Science, Belt and Road Initiative, is led by Soochow University, in partnership with the University of Évora (Portugal) and the City University of Macao, with its headquarters at Soochow University's Golden Mantis School of Architecture. The laboratory addresses key technologies and frontier research challenges in cultural heritage conservation, aiming to build an international platform for high-level research and talent cultivation. Moving forward, it will deepen industry-academia-research collaboration with the City University of Macao to facilitate the application of high-level research outcomes.
